General Dentistry

The Quality Dental Care Your Family Deserves

At Walnut Pond, Drs. Carson Ferris-Zeolla and Victoria Uryniak provide patient-centered oral care for your every need. Our staff is friendly and professional and promise to make you feel welcome and valued at every appointment. General dentistry is a broad term that covers all the many areas of oral health we can help you with.

Prevention and Detection

The cornerstone of good oral health is prevention. General dentistry aims to prevent the onset of oral health problems with routine care that lets us check-in with each patient twice a year. These regular visits give us the opportunity to detect problems in their earliest stages, to ensure they do not snowball into more complex situations. Regular care also allows us to provide preventive treatments to protect your teeth. These may include fluoride gel, to strengthen the teeth, and sealants, to provide a barrier to protect teeth from bacterial damage.

Routine Hygiene Visits

Six-month dental check-ups are more than just a check for cavities. We also provide a dental cleaning that can help you prevent the onset of tooth decay. At each appointment, one of our friendly hygienists will give your teeth a thorough cleaning to remove any calcified plaque that may have formed since your last appointment. This prevents the formation of cavities, as tartar attracts and feeds the bacteria that demineralize tooth enamel. We will also polish the teeth to remove surface stains and make them look healthy and bright.

Repairing and Preserving Your Teeth and Gums

Tooth decay and gum disease are the leading causes of tooth loss. We want you to keep your teeth for life, and this often requires restorative treatments and periodontal (gum) care. If you show signs of gum disease or tooth decay, we will provide appropriate care to keep your smile in a good state of health.

Family Dentistry

Every stage of life brings unique oral health concerns, and we are prepared to treat every member of your family. Children should come in by their first birthday, and oral hygiene should start as soon as your child begins to cut teeth. Regular visits help us monitor children’s dental growth and spot potential problems.

If your child looks like they may need orthodontics or other interventions, we always explain the issues thoroughly so you can make an informed decision. From the first teeth to the wisdom teeth–we have your family covered!

Oral and Overall Health

Today, we know that oral and overall health are undeniably connected. Many medical conditions can have a dramatic impact on your oral health, and vice-versa. Pregnancy, hormonal changes, diabetes, acid reflux disease, and many other conditions can change the chemistry of your mouth environment. For this reason, we encourage our patients to let us know of any changes to their health, as well as any medications they may be taking. This helps us be proactive in protecting your teeth and gums from potential problems and helping you stay healthy and happy, top to toe.

Orthodontic Treatments

We all deserve a beautifully aligned smile, so Dr. Ferris-Zeolla and Dr. Victoria Uryniak provide a variety of orthodontic options for patients of every age. Whether you just want to make your smile look better or have bite alignment issues, we can help you decide on the course of orthodontics that’s right for your lifestyle.

Emergency Care

We always make time for patients who are experiencing a toothache or other dental emergency. If you have a dental crisis, call us immediately and let us know of your situation. We will advise you of the best way to stay comfortable while you wait for a same-day or next-available appointment.

Bruxism and TMJ Treatment

Both TMJ disorder and bruxism can wreak havoc on your oral health. If you suffer from teeth grinding or dysfunction of the temporomandibular joints, we have solutions that can help you relieve your pain and protect your teeth from damage.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treatment

Many patients are surprised to learn that a general dentist can help with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) symptoms. Both snoring and sleep apnea are caused by obstruction to the airway when you sleep at night. In many cases, these conditions can be improved with a device that gently repositions the lower jaw. If you suffer from snoring or sleep apnea, a comfortable oral appliance may help you (and your spouse) get better sleep at night. If you know someone who has been searching for CPAP-free sleep apnea treatment, we may have a solution!
